“Sig”fried (minus Roy) Equals Escape Artist Puppy

Hi everybody! It’s me, Sig! I wasn’t sure at first when Heidi told me about this blog thing that I would have any stories to add, but boy do I have stories! My life is awesome! I could probably tell a million stories, but I’ll just a do a few today because I think Heidi and Holly have stories to tell, too.  I don’t want to be greedy or the center of attention.  I think I already get a lot of attention, so I’ll share the attention for now. First thing I want to tell you is that I really love my home.  My people are the best.  My dad is really fun, and oh, how I love my mom! Dad went away for a really long time.  Mom says he was working on the other side of the country.  I got to snuggle in bed with Mom every single night.  Heck, I snuggle with her every night even...

Holly’s Field Trip

I have exciting news for everybody! Oh, by the way, this is Holly.  Remember when I told you I might be invited to Samantha’s school for reading week? Well, I was! And it was awesome.  As I mentioned before this year’s reading week had an international theme, which, being a German Shepard I fit into brilliantly.  So the librarian asked Mom if she would bring me and share all the blog posts that Heidi and I have written.  Apparently people seem to care more about what Heidi and I have to say than Mom.  Poor Mom.  We still all love the heck out of her anyway. Look at me! I’m on stage! I’ll just pretend there isn’t a gigantic picture of Heidi right there, too. So Mom said yes, she’d be happy to read stories and of course I got to sit on stage and...

News Flash! We’re Officially a Pack!

Holly: Yep, they did it.  They went and got a puppy.  He has peed in my bed twice.  That’s about all I have to say on the matter.  I’m just going to go be by myself now.  Heidi: Oh my gosh!!! They got me a puppy! This is so amazing! He’s been a little growly, but that’s just because he was part of a pack that was surrendered to a shelter and allowed to run a little bit wild.  Mom is totally working on not letting him not get away with that behavior, and it seems to be working.  We’re starting to play together. He’s so adorable.  Seriously, I could just tuck him in close to me and lick him all over.  I can’t wait until we’re playing all over the back yard having the time of our lives.  Oh, and he is so brave already.  He has gone through the dog door and he’s...

Heidi’s Book Report

Hey everybody! It’s me, Heidi! I asked Mom if I could do this week’s blog post because I wanted to do a book report on a really great book.  No, I haven’t learned to read yet.  That’ll probably be on my New Year’s resolutions list for next year.  Actually, I got to listen to Mom read a book to Samantha, and I think it’s a book that you should all read. So my trainer, Ash, has been working with a young man who has Type 1 Diabetes.  This boy is named Gage and he wants to have a medical alert dog.  This dog would be trained to help alert him and his parents to when his blood sugar levels are going out of whack.  These dogs are super expensive because they need special training, so Gage is working hard to raise money and awareness.  He decided that writing a book...

Good News and Bad News

Hey Everybody.  It’s Holly here.  I told Mom that I need to write the blog post this week because as usual an important perspective is often overlooked during the weekly Heidi updates.  So, with that I’m going to get right to it and tell you that I have good news and bad news.  Since I’m an upbeat girl I’d like to end things on a positive note, so I’m going to jump straight to the bad news.  Heidi is cool with riding in the car. I’m going to digress for a moment to give a shout out to Ash.  Hey, Ash, thank you very little for helping Mom and Dad get Heidi over that hump.  I thought you were pretty cool with how you encouraged them to use me for training which resulted in me getting a good share of the hotdogs, but you’ve officially crossed a line.  The car was...

Kicking Butt in 2014

The last few weeks have been so exciting with Heidi! Some of you may recall that she made her own New Year’s resolutions.  Well, I’m pleased to report that we have accomplished at least two of them, are making progress with the third and haven’t even really attempted the fourth. So, the good news is that Heidi willingly gets in and out of the car.  Fist pump, oh yeah! I can’t tell you how excited I am that we don’t have to carry her in her crate anymore.  Unless there’s actually a handle on the top of the crate, animals shouldn’t be carried in them.  At least that’s what my back says. Ash broke down the steps, helped us turn getting in and out of the crate while it’s in the back of the car into a game and voila! She gets into the car like a champ.  The reason for...
